George Cooper was born in 1898 at Nottingham, he was the son of Thomas a colliery banksman and Eliza Ann Cooper néé Bent and the brother of Annie, Lizzie, Fanny, Lily, Nellie, Ada and Jim Cooper. of 27 Redoubt Street Radford Nottingham.

his father Thomas was born in 1868 at Nottingham, his mother Eliza Ann Bent was born in 1868 at Mansfield, they were married in 1888 at Nottingham, they went on to have 12 children, sasdly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 7 Bramcote Street, Radford, Thomas Cooper 43 yrs a colliery banksman is living with his wife Eliza 43 yrs and their 9 children including George 14 yrs of age.

Military history

Private George Cooper enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 7th battalion, Leicestershire Regiment, he died of wounds on 18th September 1918, he is buried at St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France
