Family history

Granville Brown was born in 1897 at Radford, he was the son of William Rawdin Brown a lace maker and the late Isabella Brown néé Sisson the brother of Albert, Robert, Edward and Lily Brown of Old Radford, Nottingham.

His father Wil;liam Rawdin Brown was born in 1856 at Ilkeston, his mother Isabella Sisson was born in 1860 at Cotmanhay, Derbyshire, she died in 1908 at Radford she was 48 yrs old, they were married on 30th July 1881 at St Peters Church, Nottingham, they went onm to have 11 children.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 28, St Paul's Street, Old Radford, Nottingham William 52 yrs is a lace maker and is a widow, he is living with his wchildren, Mary 23 yrs a cycle hand polisher, Albert 16 yrs coal miner horse driver, Granville 14 yrs a cycle hand polisher, Robert 12 yrs a scholar and Edward 8 yrs a scholar

Military history

Private Granville Brown enlisted at Derby, he served with the 2nd battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light infantry, he was killed in action on 28th June 1917, he is buried at Ramscappelle Road, Military Cemetery, Belgium.
