Family history

Reginald Vasey Harris was born on 7th November 1897 at Newark, he was the son of John Bright Harris a commercial traveller and Ada Harris née Vasey of West Road Hailesbury Ontario Canada.

His father John Bright was born on 19th December 1868 at Newark, his mother Ada Vasey was born on 2nd Novemner 1869 at Newark, they were married in 1894 at Newark, they had 5 children.

In the 1901 census the famiy are living at 45 Harcourt Street, Newark John Bright 32 yrs is a commercial traveller, he is living with his wife Ada 31 yrs and their children, Arthur 5 yrs and Reginald Vasey 3 yrs of age and Gladys 5 months old.

The family emigrated to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada arriving on 19th April 1907.

By the 1911 census the family are living at Nipissing, Ontario. Canada.

Military history

Private Reginald Vasey Harris enlisted on 6th May 1918 at Toronto, he was 20 yrs and 5 months his date of birth was 7th November 1897 , he was a clerk his next of kin was his mother Ada Harris of Haileybury, Ontario, he was single, he was posted to the 'E' Coy,75th battalion Canadian Infantry.

He left Canada on 3rd June 1918 arriving in England 21st June 1918.

After arriving in France he was wounded a gun shot wound to his left thigh, on 30th September 1918, he was returned to England on 21st November 1918.

He was admitted to the Militray Hospital, Nell Lane, West Didbury, Manchester on 2nd June 1919 with Jaundice, he died at the hospital on 8th June 1919 cause of death was Yellow Atrophy of the liver.

He was buried at Manchester Southern Cemetery
