Harry Gunn was born on 20th June 1889 at Wilford, he was the son of John Edward a farmer and Sarah Ann Gunn née Beecroft and the brother of Robert Edward, George Beecroft, Margaret Helena, Edith Elizabeth and Gladys Mary Gunn.
His father John Edward was born in 1857 at Bramcote, his mother Sarah Ann Beecroft was born in 1856 at Nottingham, they were married on 23rd December 1884 at Nottingham, they went on to have 6 children.
In 1901 they lived at Smith's Farm, Loughborough Road, Wilford Nottinghamshire. John Edward 44 yrs is a farmer he is living with his wife Sarah Anne 45 yrs and their children, George Beecroft 14 yrs a farmers son, Harry 11 yrs a scholar, Margaret Helena 7 yrs, Edith Elizabeth 3 yrs and Gladys May 9 months old, also living at the address is 3 servants.
It would appear that the family emigrated to Canada prior to 1906 as this is when the family appear on the Manitoba Census Canada.
The family were living at Coriander, Ameroid, Saskatchewan, Canada when Harry enlisted.
Private Harry Gunn enlisted on 12th May 1916 at Ameroid, Canada giving his date of birth as 20th June 1889 he was 24 yrs of age he was a farmer and lived at Corriander , Ameroid, Saskatchewan, Canada, his next of kin was his fathe John Edwad Gunn of the same address. He was posted to the 102nd Battalion Canadian Infantry.
He embarked from Canada on 1st November 1916 arriving in England on 11th November 1916, he served in France from 6th December 1916 he was killed in action on 9th April 1917, he is buried at Givenchy Road Canadian Cemetery, Neuville-St- Vast, France.
