Charles Frederick Paine was born on 12th June 1895 at Great Marlow,Buckinghamshire, he was the son of the late James a postman and Sarah Jane Paine née Grace, of Radcliffe on Trent,
His father James was born in 1869 at Marlow Buckinghamshire, he died in 1918 he was 49 yrs old, his mother Sarah Jane Grace was born in 1870 at Marlow Buckinghamshire, they were married in 1892 at Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, they went on to have 5 children, sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood.
In 1901 Charles lived with his parents James and Sarah in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. He had two sisters Daisy 7 and Ada 2 and a brother James 1.
By 1911 they were living at Radcliffe on Trent. James 43 yrs was a postman he is living with his wife Sarah 41 yrs and their children Daisy 17 yrs working at home, Charles 15 yrs a letter press printer, Ada 12 yrs and James 11 yrs.
Private Charles Frederick Paine enlisted on 22nd March 1915 at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. he served with the 24th battalion Australian, Infantry, he was killed in action on 3rd August 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial, France.
