Cecil Arthur Reginald Bolton was born in 1899 at Leeds he was the son of Joe a clerk of the works and Sarah Bolton néé Jones of Radcliffe on Trent.
His father Joe was born in 1865 at Skelmanthorpe, Yorkshire, hs mother Sara Jones was born in 1865 at Scissett, Yorkshire, they were married on 7th July 1883 at S Augstines Church, Scissett they went on to have 11 children, sadly 4 were to die in infancy or early childhood.
In 1901 he was living at 10 Winfield Place, All Saints, Leeds with father Joe, a joiner and carpenter, mother Sarah and five siblings: Adelaide (16), Fred (14), grocer’s errand boy, Clara (12), Mabel (8) and Oswald (6).
In 1911 they lived on Lorne Grove, Radcliffe on Trent. Joe 46 yrs is a clerk of the works, he is living with his wife Sarah 46 yrs and their children, Clara 22 yrs helping at home, Mable 18 yrs a cashier, Cecicl A.R. 12 yrs a scholar and Joe E D 6 yrs of age.
Private Cecil Arthur Reginald Bolton attested on 6th May 1916 at Leeds, he was living at 11 Otter Street, Kirkstall Road, Leeds, he was 19 yrs and 1 month old, he was posted to the reserves, he was mobilsed for war on 23rd May 1916 at Yorks and posted to the 1st Bn The Princess Victoria's West Yorkshire Regiment.
He was transferred on 28th April 1917 to the Royal Irish Fusiliers, landing in France on 15th December 1917, he was reported missing in action on 21st March 1918 and later confrmed killed in action on that date. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Poiziers Memorial.
