Edwin Harry Green was born in 1897 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Edwin Usher Green a piano tuner and Ada Green née Jackson of Sneinton, Nottingham,

His father Edwin Usher Green was born in 1866 at Holme Huntingdonshire he died in 1907 at Edmonton, aged 41 yrs, his mother Ada Jackson born 1870 at Nottingham they were married on 23rd May 1896 at St Albans Church, Sneinton, Nottingham,, she lived at 1 Cottage Grove, Walker Street, Sneinton, she went on to marry and become Ada Taylor.

In the 1911 census his mother Ada Green 41 yrs was a widow a lace worker and a boarder at 27 Haywood Street, Sneinton, she was boarding with Francis Jane Checkland 53 yrs a widow and her 2 children.

Military history

Private Edwin Harry Green enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 10th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he landed in France on 14th July 1915, he was killed in action on 9th July 1916,having no known grave his name is commemorated oth e Thiepval Memorial.
