Edwin Richardson was born in 1881 at Weelsby, Grimsby, he was the son of the late John Richardson and Jemima Richardson née Kime,
His father John was born in 1849 at Baumber, Lincolnshire, he died in 1897 at Louth, Lincolnshire, he was 48 yrs old, his mother Jemima Kime was born in 1855 Louth, they were married in 1879 in Lincolnshire they had 4 children,
He was the husband of Ethel Elizabeth Balmforth (born 18th August 1886 Staunton By Dale, Nottinghamshire ) they were married on 13th April 1909 at St Stephens Church, Sneinton, Nottingham and the father of Irene Richardson born 24th October 1909, Hedley born 15th May 1911, Dudley born 10th August 1913 and Edwin born 19th May 1916,
In 1911 they lived at 'Ash Villa' and later 'Edelweiss Villa' (both Greenfield Street Old Lenton Nottingham) Edwin 30 ys is a postal clerk, he is living with his wife Ethel Elizabeth 24 yrs and their daughter Irenen Richardson 1 year old also living with the family is Elizabeth Balmforth 61 yrs a widow and his mother in law.
Commencing 4th June 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 28 shillings and 9 pence a week.
Private Edwin Richardson enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 15th battalion West Yorkshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 5th November 1916, he is Buried in Couin British Cemetery 3.C.8
