Maclaren Archibald Miller was born in 1899 at Ardoch, Pershire he was the son of John Miller and Janet (Jessie) Miller née Finlayson of Morton Grange Retford Nottinghamshire.

His father John was born in 1861 at Ardoch, Perthshire, his mother Janet Finlayson was born in 1871 at Kilmadock, Perthshire, they were married in 1898at Dunblane, Perth they went on to have 9 children.

In the 1911 census the family are living at Brookfields Farm, Great Stukeley, Huntingdon John Miller 50 yrs is a farmer he is living with his wife Jessie39 yrs and their children, John 16 yrs a farm worker, Maclaren 12 yrs a scholar, Cissie 10 yrs a scholar, Tom 9 yrs a scholar, Doris 7 yrs a scholar, Douglas 5 yrs, Patrick 1 year of age also living with the family is Nellie King 25 yrs a general domestic servant.

Military history

Private Maclaren Miller enlisted at Huntingdon, he served with the 2nd battalaion Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) he was initially serving with the service number 515788 with the London Regiment, he was killed in action on 5th October 1918 and is buried at Flesquieres Hill British Cemetery, France
