Family history

William Edward MacDonald (junior)was born in 1883 at Southwell, Nottinghamshire, he was baptised on 11th November 1883 at St Marys Minster church at Southwell he was the son of William Edward Macdonald (senior) and Emma Clayton.

His father William Edward MacDonald (senior) married his mother Emma Clayton (born 1865 ) in 1882 at Nottingham.

He was the husband of Hannah Wells (born 1878 at Nottingham) they were married in 1904 at Nottingham, Hannah brought two children to the marriage Violet Millicent Wells born 1897 and Alfred Henry Wells born 1901, they lived at 14 Beauvale Road Meadows Nottingham.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 22 Blythe Road, Denby Main, Rotherham, William Edward 27 rs is a coal miner hewer he is living with his wife Hannah 33 yrs and their children, William Edward 10 months old, Ada Annie 2yrs old and step children, Violet Millicent Wells 14 yrs and Alfred Henry Wells 10 yrs old,

Military history

Sergeant William Edward MacDonald enisted on 25th February 1901 at Nottingham.25 yrs and 4 months he was a collier, he placed into the reserves and rejoined from the reserves on 21st Janauary 1918, he served wit the 14th battalion Leicestershire Regiment, he died on 8th August 1919 and is buried at Nottingham Southern Cemetery.
