George Wright was born in 1900 at Kirklington, near Newark, he was the son of William a farm labourer and Harriett Wright née Armstrong of Kirklington.
His father was born in 1874 at Kirklington, his mother Harriett Armstrong was born in 1873 at Mansfield, they were married in 1897 at Mansfield, they went on to have 8 children, sadly 3 were to die in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family are living at Kirklington, William 36 yrs is a farm labourer, he is living with his wife Harriett 37 yrs and their children, Lily 13 yrs a scholar, George 11 yrs a scholar, Frank 9 yrs a scholar, Nellie 8 yrs and Gladys May 2 yrs old, also living with them is William Wright 86 yrs their grandfather
Private George Wright enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Kirklington, he served with the 15th battalion Durham Light Infantry, he was killed in action on 24th October 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial, France.
