Ernest Walker was born on 27th March 1895 at Nottingham, he was baptised on 14th July 1895 at St Matthews Church, Holbeck, Yorkshire he was the son Of John William an iron moulder and Harriett Walker, née Rigby of 18, Derby Rd., Stapleford, Notts.
His father John William was born in 1867 his birth was recorded in the Basford registration district, his mother Harriett Rigby was born in 1866 at Nottingham they were married in 1889 at Nottingham, they had 6 children.
In the 1911 census the family are living at The Gables, Edwad Street, Stapleford, Nottingham, John 46 yrs is an iron moulder he is living with his wife Harriett 45 yrs and their children, Annie 20 ys a lace hand, George 19 yrs a general labourer, Ruth18 yrs no occupation listed, Ernest 16 yrs a lace threader and Arthur 7 yrs of age.
Ernest maried Annie E Froggatt (born 1st August 1897) they were married in 1916 at Edmonton, Essex, they had a daughter Marjorie Annie Walker born 14th March 1917, they lived at 13 Alexandria St Stapleford.
Commencing 12th May 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week, at this date she was living at 52 Brook Street, Ilkeston.
Gunner Erenest Walker enlisted at Nottingham he served with A Battery, Anti Aircraft battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, he died of wounds on 29th October 1918 and is buried at St Pol British Cemetery, St Pol-Sur-Ternoise, France.
