Family history

Newcomb Morley Tindall was born in 1896 at Bardney, Lincolnshire, he was the son of John a farm labourer and Millicent Eliza Tindall née Bellamy of Swinerby Newark.

His father John was born in 1854 at Lissington, Lincolnshire, his mother Millicent Eliza Bellamy was born in 1851 at Billingham, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1880 at Sleaford, Lincolnshire, they went on to have 5 children.

In the 1911 census his parents and siblings are living at Cotham, Newark, John 55 yrs is a farm labourer, he is living with his wife Millicent 60 yrs and their children, Lewis 28 yrs a farm labourer, Newcomb 15 yrs a farm labourer, also living with them is a daughter in law Ellen Tindall 31 yrs and a grandsonWilfred 2 yrs and 10 months old.

Military history

Private Newcomb Tindall enlisted at Lincoln he served with the 5th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 15th April 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial

His brother Corporal Harold Tindall enlisted at Lincoln whilst residing at Swinderby, he served with the 8th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, he landed in France on 10th September 1915, he was killed in action on 20th April 1917, having no known grave his name is commemroated on the Arras Memorial.
