Family history

Henry John Stow was born in 1871 at East Halton, Lincolnshire, he was the son of the late Holland a farm forman and Mary Ann Stow née Parsons

His father Holland was born in 1840 at Barton upon Humber, he died in 1885 at Southwell he was 45 yrs old, his mother Mary Ann Stow née Parsons was born in 1844 at Barton upon Humber, they were married on 20th November 1862 at Worlaby, Lincolnshire, they went on to have 4 children, Mary Ellen b1864 Charles Holland born 1865 and Ann Elizabeth born 1868.

In the 1911 census his widowed mother Mary Ann Stow 67 yrs is a farmer, she is living at Sutton on Trent, with her grandaughter Annie Mary Taylor 20 yrs a domestic servant, and Charles Parson Stow 31 yrs a nephew and farm manager.

Henry John Stow emigrated to Australia arriving on 30th March 1892 at Brisbane, Queensland, Australia,

He married his wife Mary Carpenter in 1898 at Perth.

Military history

Trooper Henry John Stow enlisted on 26th June 1916 at Perth giving his wife as his next of kin he was a farmer and horse breaker in Walurin later residing at Claremont Perth he served with the 10th Bn Australian Light Horse he was killed in action on 4th May 1917 aged 46 yrs during the campaign in Palestine, he is bried at Deir El Belah War Cemetery, Gaza/ Israel.
