Family history

Alfred Sharpe was born in 1897 at Heighington, Lincolnshire, he was the son of George William a drainage labourer and Fanny Sharp, née Inckle of Branston Fen, Lincoln.

His father George William was born in 1871 at Boston, Lincolnshire, his mother Fanny Inckle was born in 1874 at Fiskerton, they were married in 1896 at Lincoln, they went onto have 4 children.

In the 1911 census the family are living at Branston Fen, Lincoln, George William 40 yrs is a drainage labourer, he is living with his his Fanny 37 yrs and their children Alfred 14 yrs a farm boy, Walter 11 yrs a scholar, Elizabeth 7 yrs and Frederick 3 years of age.

Military history

Private Albert Sharp enlisted at Retford whilst residing at Claraborough Grange, he served with the 1st battalion Leicestershire Regiment, he was killed in action on 21st March 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
