William Pacey was born on 25th March 1892 at Bingham, he was baptised on 3rd July 1892 at St Marys Church, Bingham, he was the only son of William a buthcher and Annie Pacey née Lowe of Taieri Rd., Halfway Bush, Wakari, Dunedin,
His father William was born in 1866 at Barnston, his mother Annie Lowe was born in 1864 at Holme Pierrepoint, Nottinghamshire, they were married on 9th April 1889 at West Bridgford.
In the 1911 census his parents are living at 16 Millicent Road, West Bridgford, William 47 yrs si a butcherhe is living with his wife Annie 47 yrs also living with them is Winifred Daisy Henshaw 24 yrs a home helper.
In the same 1911 census we find that William Pacey has left the family home he is 19 yrs of age single and a engineers apprentice, he is living at 36 Eastbourne Street, Lincoln he is living with Thomas Hudson 48 yrs a moulders labourer and his family.
William moved to New Zealand on 8th May 1913 from London and arriving at Auckland New Zealand 25th June 1913,
William was the husband Of Mary Elizabeth Hunt (born 8th December 1895 at Girton, Newark, England) they were married on 28th June 1916 at Dunedin, New Zealand, they went on to have a son William Cyril Desmond Pacey born 1st May 1917 at Dunedin.
His wife was living at 31 Norfolk Street, St Clair, Dunedin, New Zealand.
Rifleman William Pacey enlisted on 9th October 1916, at Dunedin, New Zealand giving his date of birth as 25th March 1892 his father was Wiiliam Pacey and his mother Annie Pacey, he stated he had lived in New Zealand for 3yrs , he lived at 31 Norfolk Street, St Clair, Dunedin. he was 24 yrs old, he ws posted to the 3rd Bn 3rd New Zealand Rifle Briade
He embarked from New Zealand Wellington on 15th February 1917, bound for Devonport Devon, where he disembarked on 26th April 1917. He landed in France 26th May 1917, arriving at Etaples on 28th May 1917. He was killed in action on 27th March 1918, his name is commemorated on the Grevillers (New Zealand) Memorial, France
