Family history

William Arthur Pacey was born in 1896 known as Arthur he was the son of Richard a waggoner on a farm and Elizabeth Pacey née Rushby and the brother of Winifred, Lois and Flora Pacey.of 6 Top Row Beacon Hill Newark Nottinghamshire.

His father Richard Pacey was born in 1869 at Elston, Nottinghamshire, his mother Jane Elizabeth Rushby was born in 1874 at Farndon she died in 1913 in Derbyshire she was 39 yrs old, they were married on 17th December 1894 at Farndon, they went on tohave 4 children.

In the 1911 census the family lived at Tithby Grange Cottage Bingham Nottinghamshire. Richard Pacey 42 yrs is a waggoner on a farm, he is living with his wife Jane Elizabeth 36 yrs and their children, William Arthur 15 yrs helper on a farm, Winifred 14 yrs Lois 12 yrs, Flora 2 yrs also living with the family is Edith Willis 2 yrs a nurse child, also living with the family are two male boarders/servants.

Military history

Private Arthur Pacey enlisted at Derby whilst residing at Newark, he served with the 1/5th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. he died of wounds at 20th Casualty Clearing Station, France, on 10th March 1917 and is buried in Warlincourt Halte British Cemetery Saulty, France.
