William Vincent Miller was born in 1893 at Willerby, East Yorkshire, he was the son of Charles Richard an asylum attendant and Elizabeth Miller née Richardson and the brother of Charlotte Theresa and Grace Isabel Miller of Willerby, East Yorkshire,
His father John Charles was born in 1862 at Beverley, his mother Elizabeth Richardson was born in 1866 at Cokhoe, Durham, they were married on 12th January 1888 at Drypool, York, they had 5 children.
In 1911 they lived at Asylum Cottages Willerby East Yorkshire. Charles and Elizabeth later lived at Council Cottages Stokeham East Retford Nottinghamshire.
In the 1911 census cCharles Richard 49 yrs ia an asylum attendent, he is lving with his wife Elizabeth 43 yrs and their children, Charlotte 22 yrs, Vincent William 18 yrs a warehouse man and Grace Isobel 14 yrs a scholar.
Private William Vincent Miller enlisted on 4th September 1914 at Hull, he served with the 10th battalion East Yrokshire Regiment, he embarked from Devonport on 8th December 1915, disembarked for MEF, Port Said, 22nd December 1915, he was killed in action on 4th June 1916, and is buried at Sucrerie Military Cemetery Colincamps

Miller commemorated on the family headstone in St Peter's churchyard East Drayton Nottinghamshire. 'In loving memory of Elizabeth the dearly loved wife of (-) Richd. Miller died 18th day of Jany 1927 aged 59 years, also their son William Vincent Miller 19th East Yorks Regt, killed in action in France June 4th 1915 aged 24 years. To memory ever dear'
