Family history

Malcolm Mclean was born in 1897 at Glasgow he was the son of William A and Sarah McLean née Hughes of 'Woodlands' Woodborough Nottinghamshire.

His father William McLean was born in 1868 at Picton , Nova Scotia, his mother Sarah Hughes was born in 1872 at County Tyron, Ireland, they were married on 10th February 1892 at Butte, Montana, United Staes of America, they had 4 children, Violet born 1893 William born 1896 Glasgow and John born 1900.

At the time of Malcolm's enlistment, his family were living at 27 Athol Street, Grovenor Road, Belfast.

Military history

Rifleman Malcolm Mclean enlisted on 22nd July 1915, at Belfast, giving his address as 27 Athol Street, Belfast he was 19 years of age and he was a clerk,he served with the 3rd Bn Royal Irish Rifles, before transferring to (228231) 653rd Home Service Employment Coy Labour Corps on 7th July 1917.

He died on 2nd December 1917 at St Georges Hosptial, Dublin, he is buried at Curragh Military Cemetery Dublin
