Thomas Henry Masding was born in 1876 at Sleaford, he was the son of Henry Masding a servant and Betsy Masding née Riley.
His father Henry was born in 1850 at Newark, his mother Betsy Riley was born in 1849 at Sleaford, she died in 1906 at Chorlton, Machester she was 57 yrs they were married in 1873 at Newark they went on to have 10 children.
He was the husband of Frances (née Lord) Masding.(born 7th April 1884 Leicester) ) They were married at St Clement Longsight, Lancaster, on 23 December 1905; his occupation was given as railway employee.
In 1911 they lived at Harston Grantham Lincolnshire.Thomas Henry Masding 35 yrs is a farm labourer, he is living with his wife Fanny 28 yrs
Frances remarried Arthur Wallhead (J/A/S/ 1920) and they lived at Empingham, Oakham Rutland.
Corporal Thomas Henry Masding enlisted and served with the 3rd Lincolnshire Regiment, he died on 31st August 1917 at Grimsby of nephritis (kidney infection) he is buried Perlethorpe (St John) Churchyard. Inscription on headstone: 'Rest after weariness, peace after pain.'
ROH in St John's Church, Perlethorpe, which has the names of all the men 'gone to the service of our King and country from their employment on the Thoresby Estate and Rufford Hunt Kennels October 1914', lists 'H Masding, Lincolns.'
