Family history

Edwin Henton was born on 4th June 1894 at Brant Broughton, he was the son of Thomas a farmer and his first wife the late Elizabeth Henton née Hutchinson. of Brant Broughton Newark Nottinghamshire.

His father Thomas was born in 1851 at Coddington, his mother Elizabeth Hutchinson was born in 1849 at Brant Broughton she died in 1899 at Brant Broughton she was 50 yrs old, they were married on 3rd December 1872 at the Wesleyan Chapel, Newark, they went on to have 11 children.

His father re married in 1900 at Newark to Selina Georgina Cheatle born 1858 at Liverpool, Lancashire, they had no children.

In the 1911 census the family are living atBrant Broughton, Thomas Henton 59 yrs a farmer is living with his second wife Selina Georgina 53 yrs and their children, Lois Miriam 19 yrs a general domestic servant and Edwin Kenton 16 yrs a farmers son working on his farm.

Military history

Private Edwin Henton enlisted at Horncastle, Lincolnshire whilst residing at Newark, he served with the 2nd battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 16th April 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
