Claude Henry Forster known as 'Hal' was born on 5th August 1893 at Bowen, Queensland, Australia, he was the son of Claude Arthur Forster and Miriam How Gray of Australia.

His father Claude Arthur was born in 1873 in Middlesex, London, his mother Miriam How Gray was born in 1873 at Dulwich Surrey, they were married on 21st October 1895 at St Lukes Church, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, they went on to have two further children, Violet Jesse born 1892 Toowoomba andGladys Miriam born 1895 Queensland.

His parents were divorced in 1905.

His father remarried in 1905 at Brisbane, Australia to Bertha Louisa Swinden born 1881 at Kent,England, they went on to have 4 further children.

Military history

Lance Corporal Hal Forster enlisted at London whilst residing at Newark, he served with the 25th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, London Regiment, he died on 23rd September 1917 of fever in East Africa, he is buried at Dar-Es-Salaam Cemetery, Tnazania.
