John Jessop Faulkner was born on 22nd December 1885 at Wispinton, Lincolnshire, he was the son of the late Thomas Faulkner a general dealer and Mary Emma Faulkner née Jessop of Legsby, Lincolnshire.
His father Thomas was born in 1851 at Asterby, Lincolnshire, he died in 1915 at Market Rasen he was 64 yrs of age, his mother Mary Emma Jessop was born in 1856 at East Kirkby, they were married on 14th May 1874 at Low Toynton, Lincolnshire, they had 11 children,
In the 1911 census his parents and siblings were living at Bleasby, Legsby, Lincolnshire, Thomas 57 yrs is a general dealer he is living with his wife Mary 55 yrs and their children, Thomas 28 yrs a farm labourer, Maria 34 yrs no occupation, Arthur 17 yrs a farm labourer and their neice Edith Faulkner 12 yrs a scholar.
John Jessop married Edith Veal (born 24th September 1886) they were married in 1908 at St Boltolph, Linconshire, Edith brought a child to the marriage Harold Wilfred Veal born 22nd July 1908.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 1 Rose Cottage, Market Rasen, John 25 yrs is a millers carter, he is living with his wife Edith 25 yrs and their son Harold Wilfred Veal 2 yrs of age.
Commencing 23rd August 1915 his widow was awarded a pension of 10 shillings a week.
His widow died on 27th April 1916, in Lincolnshire she was aged 30 yrs.
Private John Jessop Faulkner enlisted at Lincoln whist residing at Bleasby Moor, he served with the 1st battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 1st November 1914, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium
