Family history

Austin Percival Bullock was born in 1894 at Hougham, Grantham, he was the son of Edwin a railway platelayer and Maria Bullock née Pidd of 44 Beech Avenue Hawtonville Newark.

His father Edwin was born in 1869 at Great Gonerby, his mother Maria Pidd was born in 1870 at Marston, Lincolnshire they were married in 1890 at Newark, they had 2 further children, Herbert born 1891 Hougham and Violet born 1893 at Marston.

In the 1911 census his parents are living at Hougham, Grantham, Edwin Bullock 42 yrs is a railway platelayer he is living with his wife Maria 41 yrs.

In the same 1911 census we find that Austin Pervival has lef the family home, he is living at West Retford Hall, Retford, he is shown as Percy Bullock 16 yrs a hall boy, he is one of 5 servants working a the Hall head of the famiy is May Huntsman 41 yrs old a widow, living with her 2 daughter.

Military history

Rifleman Austin Percival Bullock enlisted on 8th August 1915 at Camberwell, whilst residing at Newark, giving his address as 19 Marsden Road, East Dulwich, he was a footman, he was posted to the 17th King's Royal Rifles Corps , he was killed in action on 4th August 1917 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate memorial. .

Extra information

His brother Herbet born 1891 Hougham served with the 15th Company, Army Cyclist Corps, he died on 4th July 1916, he is buried at Merricourt-L-Abbe communal cemetery extension.
