Willis Brown was born on 19th March 1886 at Sheffield, he was baptised on 26th January 1913 at Holy Trinity Darnall, Sheffield, he was the son of the Annie Brown born 1862 at Wakley,Yorkshire

His mother married Harvey Ruddeford who was born in 1844 at Wortley, Yorkshire, he died in 1897 at Sheffield he was 53 yrs of age, his mother Annie Brown was born in 1862 at Wakley, Yorkshire, they were married in 1890 at Sheffield.

Following the death of Harvey Ruddeford, his mother went on to marry Arthur Trigg born 1858 a Enfield, Middlesex, they were married in 1905 at Sheffield

In the 1911 census the family were living at 380 Greenland Road, Darnall , Sheffield, Arthur Trigg 52 yrs a foundry labourer, he is living with his wife Annie Trigg 49 yrs and her son Willis Brown (stepson) 25 yrs a publishers assistant and John Arthur Trigg 21 yrs a moulder, Walter Trigg 12 yrs and Percy Trigg 10 yrs of age.

His mother Annie Trigg later lived at Ivy Cottage Rampton Retford Nottinghamshire.

Military history

Private Willis Brown enlisted at Sheffield, he initially served with the service number 27831 in the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry he later served with the 6th Bn The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, he died of wounds on 10th March 1917, in Mesopotamia his name is commemorate don the Basra Memorial, Iraq. Panel 27
