Private Edward Berry enlisted at Ashton Under Lyne whilst residing at East Leak, Nottinghamshire, he served with the 2nd battalion Manchester Regiment. He entered theatre on 15th August 1914 in France and was thus entitled to the 1914 Star claimed by his brother 12th August 1919. He was killed in action on 21st May 1915 and is buried at Chester Farm Cemetery, Belgium.
