Frank Turner was baptised on 3rd November 1889 at Taynton, Gloucester he was the son of Joseph a labourer and Ann Turner, née Newman of Moat Rod Post Office, Taynton, Gloucester.
His father Joseph Turner was born in 1844 at Taynton, his mother Anne Newman was born in 1845 at Glenarts, they were married on 25th February 1865 at St Marys Church, Gloucester, the went on to have 11 children.
In the 1911 census his parents are living at Moat Road Post office, Taynton, Joseph 67 yrs is a labourer, he is living with his wife Ann 66 yrs, all their children have left the family home, they are living with a lodger.
In the same 1911 census Frank has left the family home, he was lodging on Selston Lane Annesley. He is shown as being 22 yrs of age and is a domestic gardener, he is living with Elizabeth Burton 64 yrs a widow.
Lance Corporal Frank Turner enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Taynton, he served with the 7th battalion King’s Royal Rifles, he was killed in action on 17th January 1916 and is buried at Colne Valley Cemetery, Belgium.
