Wallace Gordon Hewison was born in 1892 at Whittington, Derbyshire, he was the son of Christopher Hewison an engine fitter and his first wife the late Mary Hewison née Carlin of 46 New Annesley, Nottinghamshire.
His father Christopher Hewison was born in 1869 in Durham, his mother Mary Carlin was born in 1866 at Whittington, she died in 1903 aged 37 yrs, they were married in 1888 their marriage was recorded in the Chesterfield registration district, they went on to have 6 children, sadly one was to die in infancy,
His father went on to remarry in 1905 at Pontefract to Sarah Ann Jordan born 1874 at Sheffield, she died in 1913 aged 39 yrs.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 46 New Annesley, Nottinghamshire, Christopher 42 yrs is an engine fitter, he is living with his second wife Sarah Ann 39 yrs and their children, Graham 20 yrs a coal miner loader, Wallace a collier rope clipper, Donald 14 yrs a coal miner ganger, Gerald 12 yrs a scholar and Hilda Elliss 13 yrs an adopted daughter.
Private Wallace Gordon Hewison enlisted at Hucknall whilst residing at Nottingham, he served with the 6th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, he landed in France on 12th May 1915 and died of wounds on 27th July 1917, he is buried at Mendingham Military Cemetery, Belgium
