He was the husband of Kate Raybould and the father of Sarah and William Raybould. In 1911 they lived at 54 Pembroke Street Mansfield Nottinghamshire.
Walter Raybould was born in 1893 at Staveley, Derbyshire, he was the son of Ephrain a coal miner corporal and Annie Maria Raybould née Newton of Portland Cottage, Suttlewood, Bolsover.
His father Ephrain was born in 1869 at Leasewood, Wales, his mother Annie Maria Newton was born in 1872 at Staveley, they were married on 18th June 1891 at Staveley, they went on to have 11 children, sadly 5 were to die in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family are living at Portland Cottage, Suttlewood, Bolsover, Ephrain 42 yrs is a coal miner corporal, he is living with his wife Annie Maria 39 yrs and their children, Emily 20 yrs, Walter 18 yrs a coal miner, Samuel 16 yrs a coal miner, Thomas 11 yrs a scholar, Albert 7 yrs and Ephrain 1 year old.
Private Walter Raybould enlisted at Staveley whilst residing at Stavelely he served with the 1st battalion Essex Regiment, his first entry into a theatre of war was the Balkans on 19th September 1915. He was serving on Gallipoli and was wounded in action, he was on board H.M.H.S Gloucester Castle when he died of his owounds on 5th January 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli.
