William Harold Thornhill

William Harold Thornhill was the son of John Thornhill a lace maker and Emily Thornhill née Sharp who married in the Radford registration district in 1877.

His father John was born in 1852 at Beeston, his mother Emily Sharp was born in 1857 at Chesterfield, they were married in Radford in 1877 their children included: Catherine [Kate] Emily (b.1878), Alice (b.1885) and William Harold (b.1888).

The Thornhill lived at: 8 Prince Street, Radford [C.1881]; 61 Salisbury Street, Old Radford [C.1891 & Army records/1920]. John Thornhill, who was employed as a lace maker, died at Nottingham, aged 82, in 1935. His widow, Emily, probably diedat Nottingham, aged 84, in 1942.

In 1915 William Harold Thornhill married Agnes Harriett Simpson at Nottingham. His wife also worked in the grocery section of the Nottingham Co-operative Society [C.1911]. They had one child: Olive born 7th November 1916.

His widow continued to live at 129 Hartley Road, Radford [Army records/1915 & CWGC].

Commencing 2nd December 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shiilings and 5 pence a week.

She never remarried and died at Nottingham, aged 70, in 1955.
