Robert Wilson Jackson was born in 1887, his birth was recorded in the Southwell registration district he was the son of Robert Blanchard Jackson and the late Sarah Ann Jackson née Wilson they had 3 further children, Percival John born 1897, Evelyn Kathleen born 1899 and Millicent Margaret born 1900.

His father Robert Blanchard Jackson was born in 1863 at Wrangle, Lincolnshire, his mother Sarah Ann Wilson born 1816 they were married in 1886 their marriage was recorded in the Boston, Lincolnshire she died in 1888.

His father Robert remarried Adelaide Wadsworth (born 1861 at Hucknall) they were married in in 1894 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell registration district.

In the 1911 census Robert Wilson Jackson is living at 7 Victoria Square, Worksop, he is 23 yrs and a boarder, his occupation is that of a bakers assistant. he is boarding with George Allenso 52 yrs a baker.

In the same census his father Robert Blanchard Wilson 47 yrs is a miller and baker, he is living at Norwell, with his (second) wife Adelaide Jackson 48 yrs, and their children, Percival John 13 yrs a scholar, Evelyn Kathleen 12 yrs and Millicent Margaret 10 yrs a scholar.

Military history

Corporal Robert Wilson Jackson enlisted at Doncaster, he served with the 1/5th King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, he was killed at Ypres and buried in Talana Farm Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium (grave ref 2.F.2)

Family memorial in St Laurence's church, Norwell (WMA27361): 'In loving memory of Corporal Robert Wilson Jackson of the 5th KOYLI who fell in action at Ypres on the 10th July 1915, aged 27 years. Requiescent in Pace'

His brother, Percy Jackson, who was ten years his junior, joined the Colours in 1917 and was commissioned as a Special Reserve Officer in June 1917; he survived the war to become a miller and later a farmer.
