Family history

Edward Seawards was born at Lincoln in 1891.he was the son of John Ward Seawards a general labourer and Hannah Seawards née Ainley .

His father John Ward Seawards was born in 1857 at Welbourne, Linconshire, his mother Hannah Ainley was born in 1860 at Mopley, Lancashire, they were married in 1879 at Saddleworth, Yorkshire, they had 2 further children, George born 1884 at Bracebridge, Lincolnshire and Fanny born 1887 at Lincoln.

In the 1911 census we find him as a boarder, living with a family at The Wharf, Misterton. He is 20 yrs of age and his occupation is that of an insurance agent working for Pearl Life Assurance Co

At the time of his death his next of kin was his brother George

Military history

Edward enlisted at East Retford into the Army and served with the Nottinghamshire Yeomanry - Sherwood Rangers, he landed oin Egypt on 27th April 1915. He died of wounds on 22nd August 1917 at Salonica and is buried in Struma Military Cemetery ,Greece.
