Family History
He was the son of the Reverend Francis Marrs (a Methodist minister) and Mrs S G Marrs of 12 Baker Street Nottingham later Filey Street Sheffield and then 40 Duke Street Southport. He was the brother of Kate Evelyn and Frederick Mallinson Marrs who was killed 4/31917. The Marrs therefore lost both their sons within a month.
Military History
He served with 1st Bn The Honourable Artillery Company and was killed by shell fire having been three times wounded.
Extra Information
The 1st Honourable Artillery Company – despite its name an infantry battalion - was at this time part of 63rd royal Naval Division which had taken Beaumont Hamel at the end of the Battle of the Somme in November 1916.
