Francis Gregory Phillips was born in 1899 at Nottingham, was the son of Frank Phillips a sheet metal worker and Elizabeth Corbett who married at Nottingham in 1896.
His father Frank was born in 1866 at Wolverhampton, his mother Elizabeth Corbett was born in 1868 at Derby Their children included: Francis Gregory (b.1898), John George (b.1900), Walter (b.1901) and May (b.1904).
The Phillips family lived at: 1 Gatling Street, Radford [C.1901]; 131 Forster Street, Radford [C.1911]. Elizabeth Phillips died at Nottingham in 1918, aged 51. Her husband, Frank Phillips, a sheet metal worker, died aged 75, at Nottingham in 1942.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 131 Forster Stret, Radford, Frank 45 yrs a sheet metal worker is living with his wife Elizabeth 43 yrs and their children, Frank 12 yrs, John 11 yrs, Walter 9 yrs and May 5 rs old.
Private Francis Gregory Phillips enlisted in Nottingham he served with the 4th Special Reserve battalion, South Staffordshire, regiment, he was killed in action on 29th April 1918 ; as his body was not recovered his name was added to the Tyne Cot Memorial, West Vlaanderen, Belgium.
