George William Hudson was born in 1882 at Lenton, he was the son of George Hudson a lace maker and the late Ada Hudson née Higgot-Lee of Nottingham.
His father George was born in 1860 at Derby he died in 1919 aged 59 yrs, his mother Ada Higgot-Lee was born in 1860 at Belton, Leicestershire, she died in 1902 at Nottingham she was 42 yrs of age, they were married on 25th December 1880 at St Ann's Church, Nottingham, they went on to have 5 children.
In the 1911 census his widowed father George Hudson 50 yrs a lace maker is living with his daughter in law Zillah Hudson 47 yrs a widow and his father John Hudson 75 yrs a widow. they are living at 200 Russell Road, Nottingham.
George William Hudson married his wife Minnie Heath (born 19th July 1885) in Nottingham at All Souls Church, Radford on 29th November 1915 , they lived at 38 Norton Street Radford Nottingham.
Commencing 10th June 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week.
His pension record card shows he used the alias 'George Walker.'
Private George William Hudson, enlisted at Nottingham and served in the 15th (The King's) Hussars. He landed in France on 21st August 1914 and he was killed in action on 25th November 1917. He is commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial, Louverval.
In memoriam published on 25th November 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :-
“HUDSON.- In ever loving memory of my dear husband, Trooper George William Hudson, Hussars, killed November 25th, 1917. Loving memories. - From his wife, Minnie, 38 Norton-street.”
