Leonard Burrows

Leonard Burrows was born in 1891 in Nottingham and was the son of Francis William Burrows a butcher and his first wife the late Kate Wright Burrows née Fensom.

His father Francis William was born in 1861 in Nottingham and married his first wife Kate Wright Fensom in 1879 in Nottingham, they went on to have the following children, Austin W b1882 Nottingham Fred b1887 Nottingham, Leonard b1891 Nottingham and Henry b1895 Derby.

In the 1901 census his family are living at 101 Peas Hill Road, St Anns and are shown as :
Francis William 41yrs a butcher , he is a widow and living with his children Austin 19 yrs Fred 14 yrs Leonard 10 yrs and a niece Elizabeth Travel 28 yrs.

His mother Kate Wright Burrows died in 1896 in Nottingham she was 37 yrs of age.

His father remarries in 1901 in Nottingham to his niece Elizabeth Travel, they go on to have 3 further children , Edna b1903, Clarice b1906 and Ivy b1910 all born in Nottingham.

By the 1911 census Leonard is now 20 yrs of age and a butcher , he is living at 101 Peas Hill Road, with his married brother Fred 24 yrs a butcher and his wife Florence.

In the same 1911 census we find his father Francis William 50 yrs a butcher living at 101a Hartley Road, Radford with his second wife Elizabeth 38 yrs his children Henry 16 yrs Edna 8 yrs Clarice 5 yrs and Ivy 1 year.

Leonard married his wife Lucy Ann Ball (born 28th August 1893 ) in Nottingham in 1914 they go on to have a son Ronald born 8th June 1915, in Nottingham. they lived at 241 Denman Street, Raford.

Commencing 12th November 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 9 pence a week.

Following Leonards death his widow re marries Cecil Taylor in 1919 in Nottingham and they live at 9 Institute Terrace, Hartley Road, Radford.
