Llewellyn Jones was born in 1890 at Nottingham, he was the son of Alfred John Jones, a tailor, born in 1855 at Velindre, Beguldy, Wales. His mother Susannah Jones née Lawson was born at Nottingham in 1854. they were married on 27th November 1876 at St Marys church, Nottingham.
He was the brother of Ruth (button hole worker b.1880), Bertha, Roselia (lace pattern maker b.1887), Albert, Gwendoline (tailor b.1889), Janet (lace clipper b.1893), Leonard (jeweller’s apprentice b.1895) and Wilfred (grocer’s assistant b.1897) Jones.
In 1891 and 1901, they lived at 5, Landseer Street, Radford Boulevard.
By 1911, they had moved to 49, Radford Bouelvard. Alfred John Jones 56 yrs is a tailor, he is living with hs wife Susan 57 yrs a house keeper, they are living with their 7 children including Llewellyn 21ys a compositor printer.
Llewellyn Jones married Elsie Isabelle Maria Howard on 25th September 1915 at St Faiths Church, North Wilford, Notitingham, they lived at 140, Radford Boulevard.
Isabelle later moved to 39, Meadow Lane, Nottingham.
Gunner Llewellyn Jones was called up at Nottingam, and following training he was drafted to France. He served with C Battery, 77th brigade the Royal Field Artillery He was seriously wounded during the final push against the retreating German field army and taken by hospital ship to England. He was sent to the Stoke War Hospital, but died on 18th October 1918. His body was brought home and he was buried at St Wilfred's Church, Wilford, Nottingham.
