Southwell Minster Memorial Window

Created by Oxfordshire artist Nicholas Mynheer, this complex and beautiful window was dedicated by Bishop Stephen Oliver on Sunday 10th July 2016. During the Great War Southwell Minster, depicted here as an enduring symbol of stability, was the Mother Church to Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The window commemorates all those from both counties who lost their lives whilst paying tribute to civilians staunchly maintaining the home front. The design fuses Christian iconography with familiar Great War imagery to reiterate the horrors of the 1914-18 conflict whilst emphasising the need for forgiveness and reconcilliation. David Nunn
