St Michael and All Angels was at the junction of Hartley Road and Radford Road, Radford, Nottingham. The church was completed in 1902 but falling attendance resulted in the closure of the church which was demolished in 1975. According to the figures on the City and County Memorial outside St Mary's church, High Pavement, there were 61 Great War casualties from the parish. A parish register held in Nottinghamshire Archives lists 43 men from the parish who died in the Great War and it is from this record that the list of names has been compiled for the Trent to Trenches Roll of Honour for the parish of St Michael and All Angels. There is a record that a memorial altar and a cross were placed in the church after the Great War. According to an article published in the Nottingham Post at the time the church was demolished the cross was transferred to St John the Baptist Church, Carlton (Nottinghamshire Archives ref PR 24,689). A faculty was made on 26 October 1949 for the installation of a new memorial altar in the church, a crucifix (calvary cross) above the foundation stone on the outside wall of the church and an oak tablet on the west wall inside the church on which would be inscribed the names of those who had died in both World Wars (Nottinghamshire Archives ref PR17,064). The faculty recorded the names of 19 parishioners who died in the Second World War but only one name from the First World War, Harold Buxton.
