Family History

Horace Thomas Russell was born in 1897 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late William Russell and Elizabeth Russell née Taylor of 12 Ebenezer Square, Sneinton, Nottingham. His mother Elizabeth Taylor was born in 1852 at Worcester, she married William Russell in 1871 at Upton on Severn, they had 9 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood, his father William was not at home during the 1891 census . In the 1911 census , his widowed mother Elizabeth Russell is living at 12 Ebenezer Terrace, Sneinton, Nottingham, she is shown as a widow and lace hand 59 yrs and is living at the address with her son Horace Thomas 14 yrs an errand boy.

Military History

Private Horace Thomas Russell enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 24th battalion Royal Fusiliers he was killed in action on 2nd August 1916 and is buried at Quarry Cemetery, Montauban, France.
