Thomas Christopher was born in 1876 the son of John Henry a stationary engine driver in a lace factory and Ann Reesby née Bosworth a sweet shop worker. His father was born in 1855 at Stainford Lincolnshire and his mother in 1851 at West Meath, Ireland. They married in 1876 and had five children three dying in infancy. Thomas’s surviving sibling was Henry Bosworth Reesby (b.1886). Thomas married Flora Cook in 1896 at Nottingham and they had two daughters Winifred (b.1899) and Beatrice (b.1906). In 1911 Thomas and family lived at 40 Rosetta Road Basford Nottingham.
Thomas Christopher Reesby enlisted at Southampton and first entered theatre in France on 3rd August 1915. He died of wounds at Ypres on 17th September 1915 and is buried at Poperhinghe New Military Cemetery Grave Reference: I G 13
Extract from the Nottingham Evening Post 16th September 1916: “REESBY. – In affectionate remembrance of my dear husband and our loving father, Corpl. T. C. Reesby (Chris), D.C.L.I., late National Reserve and Jardine's V.A.D., died of wounds, Ypres, September 17th, 1915. One year has passed, our hearts still sore; as time goes on we miss him more. R.I.P. Never forgotten. – Wife and daughters Winnie and Beaty (Castle-terrace). “REESBY. – In loving memory of Corporal T. C. Reesby, Castle-terrace, died of wounds, Ypres, September 17th, 1915.
