He was the only son of Lilian Lee (formerly Johnson) of 11 Dornoch Avenue, Winchester St., Sherwood, Nottingham and the late W. J. Johnson.

Private John Henry Johnson enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1st battalion East Yorkshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 28th May 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Soissons Memorial.
