William Henry Harris was born in 1899 at Nottingham, he was the son of William a carter and Julie Ann Harris née Budworth of 14 Twells Street, Nottingham. William was born in 1868 at Nottingham, Julie Ann was born in 1870 also in Nottingham, they were married on 5th June 1892 at St Ann’s, Nottingham, they had three children, their other children were Mary Elizabeth born 1893 and John Leslie born 1905. in the 1911 census the family are living at 14 Twells Street, Nottingham, William 43 yrs is a carter he is living with his wife Julie Ann 41 yrs and their 3 children, Mary Elizabeth 18 yrs a lace worker, William Henry 12 yrs and John Leslie 6 yrs of age.

Military History

Private William Henry Harris enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2/5th battalion Manchester Regiment. He was killed in action on 21st March 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, France.
