Francis Truman Burnie was born on 22nd January 1882 at Nottingham,. he was the son of Thomas a physician and surgeon and the late Eliza Ruth Burnie née Truman of 389 Mansfield Road, Nottingham. Thomas was born in 1839 at Hutton Corrie, Dumfresshire, Eliza Ruth Truman was born in 1843 at Nottingham, she died in 1904 at Nottingham she was 61 yrs old they were married on 1st May 1873 at All Saints Church, Nottingham, they had 7 children. In the 1911 census his widowed father was living at 389 Mansfield Road, Nottingham he is 72 yrs and is a physician and surgeon, he is living with his children, Helen Mary 31 yrs, Sidney Johnson 28 yrs a solicitor and Thomas Henry 23 yrs no occupation listed. Also at the address are two servants. In the same 19111 census we find Francis Truman Burnie shown in barracks with the Royal Garrison Artillery at Fort Efford, Egg Buckland, Devon, he is shown as being 29 yrs and an acting bombardier. His probate was proven on 16th February 1923 , it shows him as Francis Truman Burnie of 10 Lucknow Drive, Nottingham, died on 14th December 1922 at St Catherine Hook Heaton, Woking Surrey , his esate of £4297, 14 shilings and 8 pence were left to Sidney Johnson Burnie a solicitor (his brother)

Second Lieutenant Francis Truman Burnie enlisted into the Royal Garrison Artillery prior to the 1911 census he was serving with the 92 Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery when he died on 14th December 1922 at Guilford and was buried on 19th December 1922 at Nottingham.
