Walter Archer was born in 1885 at New York, he was the son of Francis Henry a solicitors clerk and Sarah Ada Archer née Hopkinson of 36 Hucknall Road, Carrington. Francis Henry was born in 1859 at Nottingham, Sarah Ada Hopkinson was born in 1858 at King Lynn, they were married on 5th January 1884 at St Nicholas Church, Nottingham. In the 1901 census the family lived at 37 Church Drive Carrington Nottingham A.rcher's executor was Hubert A Dowson.
Private Walter Archer enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Carrington, he served with the 3rd Dragoon Giards, he was killed in action on11th April 1917 and is buried in Monchy British Cemetery Monchy-Le-Preux Grave Reference: 1.E.26
