Jesse Adcock was born in 1873 at Chilwell and was the son of the late Jesse (senior) a general labourer and his second wife Charlotte Adcock of 44 Winson Street, Beeston. His father Jesse was born in 1842 in Chilwell and died on 11th October 1918 at Chilwell, he was 76 yrs of age, he had married Ann Williamson (b1841) on 26th September 1864 in Arnold, and had 4 children with her William b1865, Walter b1867 Mary 1869 and Harry b1870 , Ann died in 1871 aged 30 yrs. Jesse's mother Charlotte Bradshaw was born in 1852 in Kimberley, she died in 1912 aged 60 yrs. she was married to Jesse (senior) in 1871 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration District , they went on to have 9 further children, Jesse b1873, Thomas b1874, John b1877, Bertha b1878, Charlotte b1880, Fanny b1882, Emma b1884, James b1885 and Florence Clara b1887. In the 1911 censes his family are living at 44 Winson Street, Beeston, Nottingham and are shown as Jesse 69 yrs a general labourer, he is living with his wife Charlotte 59 yrs and Jesse 38 yrs, single and a general labourer.
Private Jesse Adcock enlisted on 26th May 1915 at Nottingham, he gave his age as 34 yrs and 9 months ( he was actually 42 yrs he was born in 1873) and his occupation as a town labourer, he gave his next of kin as his father Jesse of Chilwell. He was posted to the 16th battalion Sherwood Foresters and embarked from Southampton disembarking the following day in France. He was killed in action on 5th August 1917 and is buried in Track X cemetery, Belgium grave reference D.17.
his brother James Adcock enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 10th battalion Sherwood Foresters and was killed in action on 9th October 1917 and is buried at Cement House Cemetery, Belgium grave reference I.G.11
