Family History

George Ninian Beales was born in 1899 at Derby he was the son of John Beales a Hosiery Factory Manager, born 1868 in Poowah, East Indies and his wife Constance Mabel Beales(nee Priestley, married on the 19th June 1890 in the church of St. Saviour, Nottingham), born 1872 in Nottingham. George Ninian was born in the 3rd quarter of 1898 in Derby, he had one sibling a sister, Constance Doris, born 1901 in Derby, in March 1901 the family home was at 26, Harcourt Street, Derby, this being situated within the Ecclesiastical Parish of Christ Church. In April 1911 George was a Schoolboy and was residing in the family home at Bitteswell Road, Lutterworth, Leicestershire together with his parents and sibling Constance. The family later moved to 66, Harrington Drive, Lenton Sands, Nottingham.

Military History

Second Lieutenant George Ninian Beales served with the 3rd battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he was attached to the 22nd battalion and was killed in action on 21st March 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial

He is further commemorated on war memorial at St Peters Church, Leicester, Lutterworth Town Memorial and Lutterworth Grammar School war memorial.
