Family History

William Henry Petcher was born in 1885 at Nottingham, he married Louisa Payne (born 7th December 1885) in 1905 in Nottingham. They lived at 4 Byron Street, Nottingham and had 5 children, sadly one died in infancy their children were Ernest, born 11th April 1907 Alice born 10th May 1908, William Henry (born 1911 died 1913,) Fred born 4th August 1913 and James born 31st August 1914, all were born in Nottingham. In 1911 the family lived at 2 Eldon Yard, Upper Eldon Street, Sneinton, Nottingham, though they later moved to 4 Byron Street, Sneinton, Nottingham Commencing 7th April 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 33 shillings and 9 pence a week.

Military History

Private William Henry Petcher enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 26th battalion Middlesex Regiment. He was killed in action on 18th September 1918 at Salonica, he is buried at Karasouli Military Cemetery, Greece.

Extra Information

Pte. Prtcher was killed in action during fighting against the Bulgarian army on the Doiran Front. He was buried Karasouli Military Cemetery.
