He was the son of Frederick and Sarah Ann Cooper of 21 South Street Sneinton Nottingham and the brother of Mabel, Ada, Frederick and Lily Cooper.

Military History

Seventeen year-old Pte. Ernest Cooper, 2nd Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, formerly 4th Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, was killed in action on 30th August 1915. He is buried in Y Farm Military Cemetery, Bois-Grenier.

In memoriam published 30th August 1916 in the Nottingham Evening Post : “COOPER. – In loving memory of Private E. Cooper, of the Northamptons, killed in action August 30th, 1915, aged 17. He left his country quite prepared, his fair young life to give; he bravely answered duty's call, his life he gave for one and all.
