Charles Barton

Charles Barton was born in 1883 at Sneinton, Nottingham and was the son of the late Frank a shoe worker and Ann Barton née Pottinger of Nottingham. His father Frank was born in 1842 in Nottingham and died in 1892 at Nottingham, he was 50 yrs of age, his mother An Pottinger was born in 1845 in Nottingham and she died in 1898 in Nottingham she was 51 yrs of age. They were married in 1867 , their marriage was recorded in the Radford Registration District, they went on to have the following children, Rebecca b1868, George b1870, Sarah An b1871, Ellen b1874, Clara b1876, Charles b18883, Arthur b1886, Mabel b1888 and Florence b1893, all the children were born in Nottingham. Following the death of his parents he went to live with his married sister Sarah Ann and in the 1901 census he is shown living at 29 Brougham Street, Radford, Nottingham with his married sister Sarah Ann Wakefield 30 yrs and her husband James 29 yrs a packing case maker, and their children, also living at the same address are his sisters Mabel and Florence, Charles is shown as being 17 yrs of age and a steam saw worker. In the 1911 census he is shown as being 27 yrs a soldier in the 2nd battalion Leicestershire Regiment in barracks in India.
